In short

Product Pieces mapped the distinct personas Visual Sectors' product was serving, then helped tailor the product to meet each one's needs. That turned a one-size-fits-all product into one shaped around the people actually using it. Delivered by our founder as a Toptal Top 3% product manager.

The brief.

Visual Sectors had a live product supporting several different kinds of user — but no shared, evidenced picture of who those users actually were or what each of them needed. The ask: understand the personas the product was really serving, and help tailor the product to meet their needs more deliberately.

The challenge.

A product built for "everyone" quietly ends up serving no one especially well. Different users had different jobs to be done, and without a clear persona model the roadmap drifted — features added for one group, friction left for another, and no obvious way to decide whose needs came first. The challenge was to replace assumption with a real understanding of who mattered and why.

What we delivered.

We defined the distinct personas the product supported, grounded in how the product was actually used rather than who the team imagined was using it. We mapped each persona's needs and jobs against the product, identified where it served them well and where it fell short, and set out where to tailor the experience, and how to prioritise that work around the personas that mattered most.

The result.

Visual Sectors came away with a clear persona model and a product roadmap anchored to real users instead of a generic average. Product decisions had a frame: which persona, which need, which trade-off. It turned a one-size-fits-all product into one deliberately shaped around the people it serves.
