Product Pieces shaped Lux IPS's concept, an investment-health score much as a credit score reads your borrowing, into a defined MVP and a sequenced delivery roadmap two non-technical founders could take straight to build. Delivered by our founder as a Toptal Top 3% product manager.
The brief.
Lux IPS had a genuinely good idea: a single, intuitive score for your investment health — the same way a credit score gives you one honest read on your borrowing. What they didn't have was a technical co-founder, or a clear path from concept to something a team could build. The ask: shape the product, define the MVP, and hand back a delivery roadmap they could act on.
The challenge.
Non-technical founders with a strong vision face the same trap every time. The idea is expansive, the budget isn't, and without a product lead it's easy to try to build everything at once. The work was translation: turning a vision into a scoped, buildable MVP, separating the few things that prove the concept from the many that could wait, and sequencing it so the first build learned the most for the least.
What we delivered.
We shaped the product end to end: the core problem, who it served, and the single piece of value the MVP had to nail. From there we defined the MVP scope, made the build-versus-buy calls, and produced a prioritised delivery roadmap the founders could hand to engineers or a build partner without needing to be technical themselves. The output wasn't a deck. It was a plan you could start building from on Monday.
The result.
Two non-technical founders came away with a clear, buildable MVP and a roadmap to deliver it — aligned on what to build first, what to leave, and why. The concept was de-risked before a pound went into engineering, and the plan was concrete enough for any competent team to pick up and run.
